Primary school in Courtételle (CH)
Developed in two phases, the project includes the construction of a building with 25 classrooms, a gymnasium, and a multipurpose hall, located between the church and the town hall. In the Swiss Jura, the village of Courtételle offers a calm rural setting where children grow up close to nature. This context allows the primary school to support learning both indoors and outdoors.

The project is composed of three buildings arranged around large open spaces. These spaces can host recreational and sports activities, as well as learning moments, including outdoor classes. Reflecting the existing plot structure, these open areas—without fences or clear boundaries—contribute to the life of the public realm by supporting community events such as markets or local festivals.

The two-storey central building is rotated to give classrooms the best possible orientation and views. Inside, teaching spaces are organised along a wide central circulation area. The mixed concrete-and-timber structure combines lightness and material efficiency, while providing good thermal mass through the concrete cores that contain the wet areas.
