Extruded lamp
Samy Rio and Atelier Senzu have been working together for several years to blur the boundaries between scales and to combine the methods of producing objects and architecture within shared projects.
These lamps are the first pieces in a series of objects and spaces to come.

This project brings together craftsmanship and contemporary design to transform simple materials, such as extruded clay and recycled aluminium, into lighting objects. Inspired by traditional ridge elements, it explores a timeless and sustainable aesthetic.

Echoing Marcel Duchamp’s reinterpretation of everyday objects, this project draws on traditional roof ridge elements to design contemporary lighting pieces. By reworking historic architectural forms, it creates a dialogue between heritage and modern design. This approach reveals the aesthetic and functional potential of often-overlooked elements, while offering a fresh perspective.

This project brings together extruded clay from the biosphere and recycled aluminium from the technosphere, following a cradle-to-cradle approach. These materials complement each other to create durable and elegant lighting objects. Extrusion allows for precise, modular forms inspired by traditional roofs, while maintaining a low environmental footprint. The process highlights circular economy principles and the potential of both natural and industrial materials.
